“So, all we could do was sit! sit! sit! And we did not like it. Not one little bit!”
Welcome to our exciting series of blogs on selling up and sailing away with your family. If you're a parent who dreams of escaping the daily grind, embracing a life of freedom, travel, and adventure with your kids, you've come to the right place. We're here to inspire and guide you, drawing from our own incredible journey sailing the world with our kids as well as the wisdom and advice from other families sailing the globe.
In a world where the demands of work, school, and endless responsibilities often consume our lives, it's easy to lose sight of our dreams and passions. The idea of 'selling up and sailing away' to explore the world is an exhilarating fantasy. But for most, it remains a distant and elusive dream.
Our goal is to change that.
As fellow dreamers, adventurers, and parents, we've been where you are now. We've navigated the challenges of trading in a traditional life, for a life on the open ocean. We've faced the doubts and fears, the logistical hurdles, and the uncertain waters of parenthood on a boat.
But to be honest, even though we were professional sailors and let’s say, adequate parents when we set out, we still made stupid, expensive and time consuming mistakes. But we don’t gloss over them, we’ll tell you all about them because we don’t want you making those same, avoidable mistakes.
Through these blogs, we aim to share our knowledge, experiences, and insights in the form of a Five Step Guide. This guide is broken down into bite sized weekly blogs which take no longer than 10 minutes to read and slowly build up into an actionable plan. These blogs will cover topics such as:
Inspiration and Stories
Planning and Preparations
Education at Sea
Nurturing Your Family Bond
Navigating Challenges
As a result you will learn to:
Live economically on no more than the average family income
Have more time for the family and kids
Embrace an outdoor life of traveling and adventure
Live sustainably from renewable resources
Meet and interact with people of different cultures around the world
Meeting with the Shaman in the Lost City of the Colombian Jungle
Even if you’re not quite ready to begin your adventure quite yet, there are still many transferable skills for everyday life.
Sailing away with your kids isn't just about escaping the rat race; it's about embracing a new way of life that will create lasting memories and connections.
